Classified Each material is evaluated against its current SDS and the Hazardous Materials Table.
Configured Requirements are applied to the actual concentration, container size, outer package, and shipping mode.
Documented Package decisions, training records, SDS documents, and carrier requirements are maintained as part of the process.

What Is 49 CFR?

Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations contains federal transportation rules. Parts 171 through 180 include the Hazardous Materials Regulations administered by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.

These regulations address how hazardous materials are classified, described, packaged, marked, labeled, documented, offered to carriers, transported, and handled by trained employees.

Not A Single Certification

There is no blanket “49 CFR certified” status that permanently covers every chemical and package. Compliance is determined shipment by shipment using the material, formulation, concentration, quantity, package configuration, destination, and mode of transportation.

Select compatible inner containers, secure closures, secondary protection, cushioning, and an authorized strong outer package.

Communicate

Apply the required marks, labels, orientation arrows, package information, shipping description, and emergency information.

Verify

Complete a final package inspection, preserve supporting documents, confirm carrier eligibility, and release the package through the approved transportation method.

What Jackson Sells 32 oz Is The Control

Each Hardline bottle contains 32 fl oz (approximately 946 mL), below the 1-liter PG II Limited Quantity ceiling. The standard four-bottle carton remains below the 30 kg gross-package limit.

Why no bottle larger than 32 oz? Federal Limited Quantity relief permits no more than 1 liter per inner bottle. Jackson standardizes at 32 fl oz, approximately 946 mL, to remain below that ceiling.

  3. For 2 lb, seal and use the Limited Quantity configuration.
  4. For 10 lb, use authorized UN-specification PG II packaging.
  5. Apply the full marks, label, paperwork, and emergency information.
The 2 lb Limited Quantity mark must never be copied onto the single-inner 10 lb configuration.

Package Anatomy

Every Layer Has A Job.

Compatible Inner Container The container and closure must be suitable for the chemical, concentration, physical form, and expected transportation conditions.
Secure Closure Caps, seals, liners, bags, or other closure systems are checked for correct application and package integrity.
Movement Control Inner packages are arranged, cushioned, separated, or protected so they cannot move freely or damage one another.
Strong Outer Packaging The completed carton must support the actual inner packages and remain closed during normal transportation conditions.
Required Communication Marks, labels, arrows, identification numbers, shipping descriptions, and emergency information are applied when required.
People And Process

Compliance Requires Trained Functions.

Packaging alone is not enough. Employees performing regulated hazardous-material functions must receive training appropriate to their work, be tested, and have current training records maintained.
